Truck put out of service after missed weigh station stop

A trucker driving through Tennessee was stopped by a state trooper after skipping a weigh station on October 13.

What happened: The trooper pulled the commercial vehicle over and did a full inspection right there on the side of the road.

  • The inspection found tires so worn down the metal cords were showing.
  • The truck had no up-to-date annual inspections.
  • There were no mud flaps and the load was not properly secured.
  • The trailer brakes weren’t working, and the driver did not have a required log book showing hours worked.

The result: The Tennessee Highway Patrol put the driver, the truck, and the trailer all out-of-service on the spot.

According to the THP, no one was hurt during the stop. The truck and trailer will stay put until repairs and paperwork are sorted out.
