Trucker hospitalized after semi falls from I-270 overpass

Early Tuesday morning, a semi hauling doubles crashed off the I-270 overpass onto East 56th Avenue in Commerce City, Colorado.

The incident: The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. The semi left the bridge and landed on the road below, destroying the cab.

  • No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
  • First responders had to pull the driver out of the damaged cab and took him to the hospital.
  • The driver’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Aftermath: The truck driver’s dog ran off after the crash and is still missing as of Tuesday morning, reported 9NEWS.

East 56th Avenue stayed closed between Eudora Street and Sand Creek Drive South while crews worked the scene.
