Trucker rescued after bridge collapse leaves rig dangling over edge

A trucker in China was left in a dangerous spot Tuesday after a bridge broke apart in Guizhou province, following days of heavy rainfall from monsoon floods.

The incident: The driver was the only one on the Houzihe Bridge when the ground below gave way from a landslide. The truck stopped just before the missing section, leaving the cab hanging off the edge.

  • Video showed the truck swinging over the gap, with the driver trapped in the cab.
  • Rescue teams got the driver out safely. No injuries were reported.
  • The bridge collapse took place on June 24, 2025, during severe flooding in the region.

More details: Local officials blamed the landslide and non-stop rain for the collapse. Other roads and businesses in the area were also hit by flooding, according to News18.

Officials say more rain could create further problems as parts of the region remain at risk for more landslides and floods.
