Trucker spots body in Missouri River while crossing bridge

A truck driver passenger spotted a body in the Missouri River while riding northbound on Interstate 435 near Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 22.

What happened: The Kansas City Police got the call just after 1:30 p.m. The trucker saw the body floating in the river from the passenger seat of a semi cab going across the I-435 bridge.

  • Officers found the body later on the riverbank near the bridge.
  • Police called in the missing persons unit, crime scene team, and the medical examiner.

Where things stand: The person’s identity has not been made public. Police have not determined how the person died and are continuing their investigation, according to The Kansas City Star.
