Truckers brace for major inspection blitz starting tomorrow

North America's largest commercial vehicle blitz, the International Roadcheck, starts tomorrow, May 13, 2025. For the next 72 hours, inspectors will examine rigs across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The big picture: Nearly 15 trucks will be scrutinized every minute. This year, the focus will be on two key issues: tires and false records of duty status.

  • Inspectors delve deep into brake systems, tires, lighting, and cargo securement, among other things, during the vehicle inspection.
  • Driver checks will include license status, impairments, and record of duty status.

Why it matters: This extensive inspection aims to enhance safety on highways and ensure compliance with regulations. Thousands of inspections during last year’s Roadcheck led to identifying crucial areas needing attention.

Looking ahead: The CVSA stresses the significance of routine maintenance and record accuracy for smooth operations during the blitz.

Special attention is advised for tires and false duty statuses, reported CVSA. Following this blitz, a detailed report is expected to shed light on the inspection outcomes.
