Late Sunday night, a semi truck incident occurred near Lincoln, Nebraska. It took place on Highway 6 at SW 63rd, as traffic was rerouted from eastbound I-80 due to bridge demolition.
What happened: The driver misjudged the truck's cargo height and collided with a railroad bridge at about 55 mph. The impact was intense, nearly stopping the truck instantly.
- Despite the collision, no injuries were reported.
- The truck driver believed the cargo was eight feet high, but it was actually nine feet, leading to the accident.
The aftermath: Authorities cleared the scene by early morning, allowing traffic to resume normal flow.
Detours were part of a planned bridge demolition project on I-80, which started December 22nd. The project required a full closure of I-80 near Lincoln, with alternate routes provided.
Fortunately, this incident did not result in injuries and the road was reopened quickly.
