Centerville rest stop closes for remodel; more truck parking ahead

The Centerville rest stop on I-70 in Indiana will shut down on February 3 for major renovations. It's set to reopen in 2027.

What's happening: The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will update the rest area with facilities that truckers will appreciate.

  • The revamped stop will feature 209 total parking spaces, including 156 for semi-trucks.
  • Trucker-friendly improvements like restrooms, vending options, and tourism information are planned.

Big investments: The closure is part of a $600 million plan to enhance rest stops across Indiana. INDOT aims to add 1,100 parking spots for semis statewide by 2034.

Meanwhile: Truckers are encouraged to use the Greenfield rest area at mile marker 107 during this closure, according to INDOT.

Looking ahead: These renovations reflect a commitment to addressing truck parking shortages, giving drivers more convenient and safe options on the road.
