College Station bans commercial truck parking on city streets

Starting October 1, 2024, College Station, Texas will enforce a ban on commercial vehicles parking on city streets and alleys.

Why it matters: The new rule targets vehicles over 26,001 pounds to address safety, traffic flow, and neighborhood aesthetics.

  • Specific exceptions apply, including public works vehicles and those actively loading or unloading.
  • Repair vehicles servicing nearby properties are also exempt.

Resident concerns: Locals had issues with large trucks parked in residential areas, prompting the City Council to pass the new ordinance in March 2024.

Enforcement was postponed until now to give the trucking community time to adapt, according to an announcement by the College Station Traffic Engineer.

Truckers impacted by the regulation should seek alternative parking options to avoid fines and compliance issues.
